Glory

We have been a bit busy.  Yesterday, we laid to rest one of God’s soldiers, gone to Glory.  Reuben was 94 and had been married to Martha for 71 years.  He still drove his suburban up until his recent illness.  He had been pretty healthy until his pancreas started to fail.  They suspected cancer, but due to his age they declined to perform the surgery.  He had served his country well as an aircraft engine mechanic and also served his master Jesus Christ even more diligently.  His memorial service, the finest I ever attended, was a celebration of his very full life.  Texas has lost one of its best.  Until we meet again Reuben.

We had a chance to attend the Grand-kids ball games Monday.  They were the last games of the year and we hadn’t been yet, so despite having to traverse to the other side of town in rush hour traffic, we made our way over.  Logan plays T-ball.  It’s good for a laughs and chuckles.  Only a few of the kids seem to take it serious.  Logan is one of those.  I submit that T-ball is mostly for the parents, not the kids.  You can tell that by the disinterest by most of the kids.

Danica, our Granddaughter, plays soccer and her game followed immediately after Logan's ball game.  Not a fan of girls’ sports, but these little gals get after it.  There is little disinterest here at the 7 year old level.  It was fun to watch the determination on those faces.  There was also some interesting interaction from Danica that I can’t really go into at this time.  But I saw what I thought was jealousy in her eyes directed at my youngest son, her Uncle Bubby.  She is really attached to him.

I totaled up the rainfall we got here at my house for the month of May.  14.7 inches compared to just over 7 inches last year.  They claim it is the wettest on record for this area.  That’s pretty wet since May is historically our wettest month.  So far this month has started off spectacularly.  Very much welcomed after last month.

Happy Trails

Glad you were able to pay tribute... And kids sports ARE interesting... Mainly for the parent watching!
